Medicare announced exciting and historic news for dementia care!

Memory Care Home Solutions is honored and thrilled that Executive Director, Jill Cigliana, and Director of Operations, Sarah Schoenig, were able to attend the National Alzheimer’s Project Act Advisory Council in Washington D.C. yesterday, July 31st. CMS Administrator Chiquita Brooks-Lasure announced the GUIDE Payment Model for dementia care, which is designed as a Medicare-covered benefit to help families manage the progression of dementia at home.

Lisa Baron, founder of Memory Care Home Solutions, had a vision that all people living with dementia and their family caregivers would have access to a comprehensive package of services to extend and improve time at home. Twenty years later, her vision is becoming a reality!

Memory Care Home Solutions, along with countless other stakeholders, has dedicated more than a decade of advocacy at the federal level to ensure that these services could be available to everyone, especially the underserved and those with limited resources. Yesterday’s announcement transforms the landscape of dementia care and there will soon be Medicare coverage for dementia navigation, family caregiver support and respite care.

Memory Care Home Solutions has been delivering comprehensive dementia care services for the past 20 years. This uniquely positions us to help test this new model and demonstrate the powerful impact for families. We are prepared to apply our collective wisdom and expertise to the GUIDE model of care.
