Caregiving Solutions in a Time of Coronavirus (COVID-19): Guidance for Caregiving
The person you care for likely has the most daily contact with you, the care partner. The best way to protect the person you care for is to take protective measure for yourself. These protective measures include handwashing (for 20 seconds), hand sanitizing, monitoring yourself for symptoms (fever, cough, sore throat, shortness of breath), and adhering to social distancing recommendations (stay at home, limit visitors, especially those who have traveled recently).
Consider asking others for help:
·To bring you groceries or use grocery delivery services.
·To use the same protective measures that you are using (don’t be afraid to ask them to wash their hands or use hand sanitizer, and to stay 6 feet away, or to leave the groceries at the door).
·Ask your doctor if you can receive medications in advance (to have enough for the next 30-90 days). Or consider mail-order pharmacy options. Most insurance plans cover this and send out 90-day supplies.
